max dam --> if unpopular stuff merchant, else trade for under market price.

the stuff goes away fast, and i have minimal pain of trading.

I've taken a similar approach, except that max damage items with high req --> merchant.

And I would have to agree, they definitely need some sort of trading area... Seeing noob messages such as "selling godly longbow 15% > 50!! 10k!!" is making me angry, especially when most of the time it's just the collectors bow...

When I was trying to sell an old Zealous Hammer Haft I had, I had TONS of people saying "only a 1/-1 Zealous? n/m j00 [email protected]..".

OK, there are two HUGE things wrong with this:

1.) THERE IS NO HIGHER LEVEL OF ZEALOUS! 1/-1 IS IT!
2.) Calling someone vulgar names because they don't have what you want isn't just rude, it's stupid, narrowminded, and despicable. ESPECIALLY when what you want doesn't EXIST!

- trading stupidity:

Is the 15k/fissure armor worth anything? Not really!
Is money worth anything for someone whos strough the game ~3 times? NO! (only if you really want the above).
Are Weapons worth anything for someone who has ~all skills/runes/upgrades unlocked? NO!
Should someone who wins the Halls of Heroes every now and then care about people tat make fools of themself by trading that way in lions Arch? NO!

I prefer playing the game and putting ALL chats on ignore if I have to go to Lions Arch.
Then i can still have fun in there with some role players, because you see speech bubbles, even if you ignore all.

As someone said, it's hard to give stuff away. As I have alot of cash, I salvage anything not maxed for materials. Maxed stuff gets offered to my guild first, and if they don't bite, I give it away for free in Ascalon or Great Northern Gate... if the toon is of a level under 15. To me it's just good business. I want new players to enjoy the game, because the life of Guild Wars will eventually rely on existing players buying expansions. Right now with the nerfs they can't get sh- nothing. Most folks I give stuff to are real appreciative, so not everyone just jumps at the word godly. Hopefully they will do the same later on with other new players. It's really no loss to me either as I make good cash off of salvaging common materials from common items.

I went to old ascalon the other day with my monk. Some guy was spamming "WTS RARE PWNAGE WEAPONS FROM 5TH CONTINENT" or something like that. So i go up and ask him what hes selling.

He pulls up the trade window and says "u a monk?" I say "Yeah, let me see your weapons" he just throws in a cane that is 8-11 damage or something. I said "Don't you have anything else?" "ya but u a monk" "Just let me see your other weapons" "K" he slaps on four other items that looked like he got them in pre-searing.

"What? This is all you have" "ya they rare i get dem in 5th continent far away" "5th continent?" 'ya it lots of green' or something "You mean maguuma?" "ya vry rare vry far away" "Most of this stuff looks like you got it in Pre-searing" "no 5th continent" "It's not even the 5th continent. It's more like the fourth"

So, yah, I just went away at that point. You guys should try going to the outside of Tombs and saying in trade chat "WTS: Leet Gold Godly Smiting Hammer of Ubercoolness".

One time I did that while waiting for a party and three people whispered me. Most of which were "Smiting hammer??" completely ignoring the "Of ubercoolness" O.o

You know, I found a gold max damage hammer in the desert with a maximum fortitude grip (+30) and +15% damage while health was above 50%.
I thought "Sweet, a perfect weapon! Now I can get me some gold!".
Could I sell it?
Could I buggery.
I ended up customising it for my warrior and using it for a nice hammer build.
Most probably this was a failed sale due to my reluctance to sink to the depths that the other plebs sink to...

I was offering a gold max dmg bow in LA. Doing all the usual stuff, my first line of trade was:

WTS Max Dmg gold zealot's Shortbow of fortitude (req. 11 marksmanship, +23 hlth, +1 en) 2k etc.(or words to that effect)

Nothing.

WTS Max Dmg gold zealot's Shortbow of fortitude (v.low price!! 2k - Inventory clearout)

Nada!

WTS Max Dmg gold zealot's Shortbow of fortitude! (or you can just blow your money on crap),
WTS Max Dmg gold zealot's Shortbow of fortitude 2K (I'm slapping you in the face and yelling "BARGAIN" here!!!)
WTS Max Dmg gold zealot's Shortbow of fortitude (It's a deal, it's a steal, it's sale of the f**king century!)

(Yes, I tried all the above lines, and more! - Occasionally, I'd get a lvl 6 Me/R who'd look and offer 400g and a vial of orange dye, but nothing more)

I'll starting to use whisper channel for my "WTS godly max uber charr hides 50g each" messages

don't worry, I'll only whisper those who use local channel for trade messages.

and when I want to do real trading, I turn off local channel.
